Exterior House Painting
Choose your paint colors and submit your requests

Welcome
Welcome. The Cambridge Paint Committee has put the paint selection process online so that we may make color choices from the comfort of our homes and stay safe. On this site, you will have the opportunity to select your paint colors, submit the official request, and make any special requests that you may have.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What is the cost of changing colors? There are several costs depending on your choices. To paint the entire house with a new color scheme will cost $350. If you wish to keep your existing body color and wish to only change the front door, garage door, trim color it will be $75.00 each.

If you owe money, it will be due in the form of a CHECK only, made payable to our painter Ernesto Leonard. Checks are due one month before your house is scheduled to be painted. Checks must be submitted to one of the Painting Committee members.

2. I do not want to make any changes. Do I still need to submit a request? Yes, you do. We need to know that this is your intention.

3. When are you going to paint my house? We will be starting at the entrance of Cambridge on Kingsley St. and go in lot # order. We will work our way down the street 23 houses at a time. We will proceed over to Folkstone Ave. including the loop and then back on to Kingsley and proceed down to Abington Ave. including the loop. We will finish up Kingsley which will bring us to Newland St. We will proceed in lot # order up Newland St. all the way up to the loop. The whole process is expected to take up to 5 months depending on how fast the painters progress. Throughout the process, you will be informed as your painting date is determined and approaching.

4. I'd like to see some of the freshly painted houses in the new color schemes. You are welcome to drive around the other neighborhoods in Kings Ridge and take a look. Huntington and Stratford have just been completed. There are sections of Highgate near the Capland Ave. gate that are also freshly painted.

5. How accurate are the paint colors that you're showing me on the website? The photos were taken professionally by Sherwin Williams. To the eye, they are pretty much the same as in real life, however, the colors could appear differently to you. Sunlight and varying times of the day greatly affect the appearance of the paint on the homes as well. If you have any doubt or would feel more comfortable seeing the colors in person, go look at the color book in person in the clubhouse lobby. Or please contact Paul at (407) 970-8436.

6. After my house was painted, I decided I'm not happy with the color I chose. What can I do? If you do not like the color, you do not have any remedy through the painting committee. As stated above, you have the opportunity to view the paint book if you wish, and colors will vary in different intensities of sunlight. If you wish to change your color, you may contact the architectural Review Committee for approval to change your color at your own expense.

7. What happens if I have a screen room or other type of enclosure? If you have a screen room, the interior will be painted the same color as the rest of the house. A screen room for these purposes is considered to be "Outside" the home. If your enclosure has vinyl, glass, or some other type of window, this is considered to be "Inside" the home and will not be painted. Keep in mind, if you are changing the color of your home, you will be responsible for painting the walls that are considered "Inside" the enclosure. The painters can help you obtain the paint, but due to their contract, are not allowed to paint that "Inside" area. If you are unsure whether you have an "Inside" or "Outside" enclosure, please contact a member of the Paint Committee and we will come to your home to help you determine it.

8. My screen room was built off an area of my home that had a covering or "ceiling" to provide shade. Or, I have a front porch that provides shade. I painted the "ceiling" of that area white. What will the painter do? That area is painted the same color as the body of the house. The painters are not able to paint this area white. If you have a white "ceiling" and would like for it to remain white, please request that it not be painted at all.

9. I have a Saint Ives style home. Are things different for me? In most cases, no, things should be the same. However, there are some things you may want to keep in mind:
Saint Ives models have four doors, the front door, a door leading to the main part of the house, a door leading to the guest bedroom, and a fourth door leading to the guest bathroom. Only the front door is selectable for a color change choice according to the Kings-Ridge Sherwin-Williams color palette. The remaining three doors will receive the same color as exterior walls unless a different door color is requested for $75/door ($225 total).

The screen room rules remain the same for the lanai. If you do not have screens but have some other type of covering, you have an "Inside" room that will not be painted. If you have screens, you have an "Outside" room that will be painted.

Your "ceiling" area in front of the kitchen will be painted the same color as the body of your house unless you request for it not to be painted.

10. I don't like the idea of my soffits being painted. We have been told by the painter that the nozzle he uses will not clog your soffits. If you are uncomfortable with having your soffits painted, when you submit your colors, please request that your soffits NOT be painted.

11. I can't have the same paint color as my neighbor. How will I know? When you submit your request, it will be logged into the master Excel spreadsheet. The person who logs the information knows to check your neighbors' colors as well. If there is a conflict you and your neighbors will be notified. If this happens, decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis, but factors that will be considered include: 1. has this house always been this color? 2. who made the request first? 3. is there a similar color scheme that would be acceptable? We will try hard to make sure everyone is happy and the rules are being followed, but there may be an event in which you will be asked to choose a different color. An additional consideration is that the new house color scheme shall visually blend with the color of your painted driveway surface, paver driveway, and walkway colors.

12. I don't know what my color scheme is and I'd like to keep it. Don't worry; We know! There is a master list of all the colors in the neighborhood. We have the correct information and will look it up when you make your selection.

13. I found a mistake, omission, wasn't able to request something, or for some other reason, things just went wrong with this website. What do I do? This website was designed by Paul Steen. If you've got any type of problem or issue, please contact him at (407) 970-8436 or email at paul.o.steen@gmail.com. We would prefer that you contact us and tell us directly what you're unable to do rather than hope we get it right. It will be easier for us to fix the issue before the painters arrive than to try to solve something after the work has been done.

14. I would rather not, use my computer to make my paint selections...what can I do? We fully understand that not all of the residents are able to jump on their computers and fill out a form on a website to make their color choices. Some residents may be able, but don't want to. We hope that most of Cambridge will be able to use the website to make the process easy from your home. For those residents who need a personal visit, we can accommodate and will gladly come to them and assist. This website was designed at home. If there is something that needs to be changed or enhanced on the site, please let me know. The reason my name is in the website address is that we're using free software and that's the default.

A personal note from Paul Steen. Hi neighbors! 2021 has turned out to be quite a year for us so far. I'm excited to be taking on the challenge of coordinating the painting for 2022 and am especially grateful for my committee Art Bentley, Kathy Skrabalak, Karen Peterson, Candy Priola, and Gina Heinz in volunteering to help me.
